Vraiment Bon "Truly Good" Louisiana Fig and Fruitcakes emphasizes nutritionally sound ingredients. We care, and are concerned for the health of our customers.
Flour Options
Whole wheat grain contains seven of the eight B-vitamins and includes the germ which is the iron content of the wheat grain. We like to ask our customers to choose what kind of flour they prefer.
White flour that has been refined without the husk and germ make a lighter, fluffier cake than does the whole wheat. Whole wheat, containing the germ and the husk, will be denser and thus heavier making a cake's appearance darker and more compact. The taste is a little different and definitely lovely.
Nut flours are the choice for some customers with gluten concerns.
The price of whole wheat flour and almond flour is something that has to be considered when ordering and the difference is listed on the store product menu. You may call us and discuss the price and flavor differences at anytime and place your order over the phone. We love taking orders by speaking personally with customers. Speaking with people about our products and their ordering preferences keep our business current and informed. Call us at: 337-794-4805.

Who We Are |
I am Vickie Ford, born and raised in Patterson, Louisiana across the street from the Teche Bayou.
Just up the road from Terrebonne Bayou, in Houma, Louisiana. Born to Ella Mae Lirette (Cajun French Catholic) and William Alexander Ford (any religion and nationality my mom wanted for him). My mother Ella is the heart of incentive where my bakery is concerned. She and her twelve siblings were born and raised on Terrebonne Bayou in Houma, Louisiana and knew every twist and turn in it. Sugarcane was the family trade. Land on which pecans, figs, pears, persimmons, satsumas, lemons, strawberries, kumquat, blackberries and other fruit of the bayou fed the large Lirette family of fifteen. The riches that I experienced as a child growing up and around my hundred or so first and second cousins are incalculable in as far as the instruction and common sense play that has created the cake business. Imparting some of the Cajun riches of this fun and lovely existence to others and Louisiana citizens is truly a necessarily creative endeavor. Sharing my life with them by way of my fig pastries is my gift. |
Business Vision
|
Industrious Welsh is sizing up a new idea for exploiting a long neglected natural resource, Louisiana Figs.
Not only is Vickie Ford creating delicious possibilities for uses of figs, she is achieving quite a reputation as the local parish stimulus for relating fig potential on a state, national, and international manufacturing scale. Ms. Ford's bakery is her laboratory and is located downtown in the heart of the Welsh community across the street from Capital One bank on the main thoroughfare of Adams Street in what once was the local theater. Vraiment Bon "Truly Good" Louisiana Fig and Fruitcakes is where Vickie relates her plans publicly at a coffee bar that is hinged for up and down movement and red rocking chairs for sipping her Cajun Roast Coffee and Cajun Fig Fruit Beer. The Louisiana Fig and Fruitcake menu sports over ninety pastries developed in the last thirty-five years from its birth to now. A website displays a source of fundraising possibilities for churches and schools statewide and nationally as well as a Cake of the Month way to give gifts year round. Vickie's dream is to see Louisiana highways lined with fig orchards that appear to tourist as a sea of green while passing around our state, creating the interest needed to turn tourist into our back roads and byways. Take the Welsh exit, taste the flavors of Louisiana's Bayou Country and treat yourself to Cajun Fibs, Creole Crumbs, Fig Rouxtins, and Froux Douxs. You'll be back again and again for Fig Cake, Fruitcakes, Sweet Potato Fig Pecan, and Pumpkin Fig Pecan… --Vickie Ford, Vraiment Bon Business Owner |
